Sleep Paralysis
If you ever wondered if Sleep Paralysis is demonic, a medical issue, or a natural phenomenon, and before you say that it has been scientifically proven to be a natural phenomenon that happens when you are waking from sleep or you might be hallucinating while waking from sleep. Let me first ask how many here have experienced Sleep Paralysis?
You have to remember the world will always find natural ways to explain supernatural experiences. Those of you who said that you have experienced Sleep Paralysis all know that the only word you cannot say during an episode is the name of Jesus. If it's just a natural thing that happens when you are waking from sleep or waking up in the middle of the night because you are under a lot of stress why is it that the only thing you cannot say is the name of Jesus if it is supposed to be a natural phenomenon?
It's not happening because it’s a natural phenomenon or because your body is just waking up. It is because it is a demonic attack and that’s why the demons will try to keep you from saying the name of Jesus because they know there’s power in the name of Jesus and they must bow down to that name, the name of Jesus.
If you believe it’s a natural phenomenon when you experience sleep paralysis, even though you are seeing demons or weird creatures in your room, or weird creatures sitting on your chest and the only word you cannot speak is Jesus you are being deceived by the Satan and that’s what he wants you to believe. It's demonic and not a natural phenomenon. Period.
Sleep paralysis is a demonic occurrence many people have experienced, both Christian and non-Christians. It can be a terrifying experience. Sleep Paralysis is also known as Old Hag Syndrome, Ghost Crushing, Nightmares, and Night terrors.
Nightmare - The word nightmare is derived from the Old English mare, a mythological demon or goblin who torments others with frightening dreams. It is a malicious entity that rides on people’s chests while they sleep.
Encounters during Sleep Paralysis
There are many different types of encounters one might experience during sleep paralysis. Some of them are sexual encounters, sexual abuse such as rape, physical abuse such as beatings, demonic visitations or manifestations, spirit marriages to incubus or succubus spirits, spirit marriages to a witch or warlock, and alien visitation or abduction are just a few of them.
Open doors cause Sleep Paralysis
There are many different ways or reasons for experiencing sleep paralysis. Some of them are:
· involvement in the occult
· associating with others who are involved in the occult (being unequally yoked with unbelievers 2 Corinthians 6)
· watching movies or television shows that are sexual, sensual, or demonic
· watching hardcore pornography movies and magazines
· fornication, promiscuity, masturbation
· location, such as staying in hotels, overnight in someone’s house
· having occult materials or objects in your home
· dream sorcery (Jezebel sends a messenger (malak=angel) to Elijah in a dream 1 Kings 19)
· drugs illicit, legal drugs, and some over the counter drugs can induce sleep paralysis
· demonic or satanic roll play video games
Watching videos on YouTube will open the door to sleep paralysis and it doesn’t matter what the videos are about. It can be good or bad stuff and the viewer can experience Sleep Paralysis. I searched for videos by Christian ministries on the subject of sleep paralysis and was shocked to find very few videos. What I did find were the following videos which I listed by the actual title posted to YouTube:

As you can see there’s more to Sleep Paralysis than most realize. Because there are too many facets to this subject we will look at the basic causes of Sleep Paralysis in this teaching. In the subsequent teachings that will follow we will look at the different types of attacks that come through Sleep Paralysis and how to deal with them and close the doors.
Symptoms of Sleep Paralysis
· Unable to move or speak during awakening – paralyzed
· Hearing sounds of hissing, humming, static, zapping, and buzzing noises during sleep paralysis
· Hearing voices, whispers, and roars
· Feeling pressure on the chest and intense pain in the head during an episode
· Symptoms cause intense emotions of fear and panic
· People have experienced sensations of being dragged out of bed, flying, numbness, and feeling electric tingles and vibrations running through their bodies. Some are literal experiences and some are caused by the demons in dreams but they are so real it is difficult to distinguish between the real and fake.
· Sleep paralysis may include hallucinations, such as a supernatural creature suffocating or terrifying the individual, accompanied by a feeling of pressure on the chest and difficulty breathing.
How to Stop Sleep Paralysis
Two types of stopping Sleep Paralysis in the middle of the event, but before I talk about them I want to remind you why I began teaching on the occult, divination, witchcraft, and electronic witchcraft. Do you remember why I started teaching on this subject? It was because I had just dealt with and broken an assignment of witchcraft that was being done against me. When it was broken the Lord spoke to me and said many were going through the same thing. They were being attacked by witchcraft but didn’t know how to deal with it. The Lord told me to teach on the different subjects He would tell me to teach on.
There is a twofold purpose for these teachings. The first is to help people who are being attacked by witchcraft but don’t know how to deal with it get delivered by praying for them and breaking the power of witchcraft by the authority that is given to us in the name of Jesus. The second is to teach them how to deal with witchcraft attacks themselves but also how to set others free from witchcraft assignments and teach them how to deal with it themselves.
Let’s get to the two types of stopping Sleep Paralysis in the middle of the event.
For non-Christians experiencing Sleep Paralysis:
If you are not a Christian you can stop sleep paralysis in the middle of an event and stop them from getting worse. There are methods you can use that will help you but you won’t be able to stop sleep paralysis from reoccurring again because the only way to stop sleep paralysis for good is using the authority Jesus gave His followers to command demons to stop.
If you are not a Christian you should not try to use the name of Jesus to stop any type of demonic attacks against you because it can be dangerous and even cost you your life depending on the situation.
Biblical example of people trying to use the authority in the name of Jesus to cast out demons because they heard the disciples doing it. It did not go well for them.
Act 19:11-20 NIV
11 God did extraordinary miracles through Paul, 12 so that even handkerchiefs and aprons that had touched him were taken to the sick, and their illnesses were cured and the evil spirits left them. 13 Some Jews who went around driving out evil spirits tried to invoke the name of the Lord Jesus over those who were demon-possessed. They would say, "In the name of the Jesus whom Paul preaches, I command you to come out." 14 Seven sons of Sceva, a Jewish chief priest, were doing this. 15 One day the evil spirit answered them, "Jesus I know, and Paul I know about, but who are you?" 16 Then the man who had the evil spirit jumped on them and overpowered them all. He gave them such a beating that they ran out of the house naked and bleeding. 17 When this became known to the Jews and Greeks living in Ephesus, they were all seized with fear, and the name of the Lord Jesus was held in high honor. 18 Many of those who believed now came and openly confessed what they had done. 19 A number who had practiced sorcery brought their scrolls together and burned them publicly. When they calculated the value of the scrolls, the total came to fifty thousand drachmas. 20 In this way the word of the Lord spread widely and grew in power. (Sceva means: mind-reader G4630)
If you are not a Christian you should not try to use the name of Jesus as the sons of Sceva tried to. It didn’t turn out well for them. What you can do is pray and ask Jesus to help you during a sleep paralysis attack. You might be paralyzed and unable to speak but if you just think “Jesus help me” or just His name “Jesus”. He will help you break out of the attack to wake up. The Lord loves you and desires to help you overcome sleep paralysis for good. He has all authority on earth and in heaven, Matthew 28:18. The demons submitted to His authority in the Bible and still submit to this day.
I heard a testimony from a minister who has helped many people get free from sleep paralysis. Non-Christians who had been dealing with sleep paralysis for years and who had no success in stopping the attacks were surprised that the attacks stopped when they prayed and asked Jesus to help them during an event. Some even said the demons cried out in torment when they said, “Jesus help me!”
I bet they were open to the gospel of the kingdom and to receiving the free gift of eternal life through Christ Jesus. Many began to read the Bible to find out more about this Jesus. Many even became Christians after seeing the power that asking Jesus to help had. They eventually were set free from sleep paralysis using the authority that Jesus gives to ALL Christians.
As a non-Christian, you can also help to stop sleep paralysis from getting worse by getting rid of all occult materials, books, statues, crystals, dolls, Ouija boards, and tarot cards. You must destroy or burn them, but you cannot sell or give them away to someone else. You can prevent sleep paralysis from getting worse by quitting the things that open the door to the demons that are the source of sleep paralysis, and by getting rid of occult items and materials, but you cannot stop it completely and will likely experience it again because the spiritual doors will remain open because only in Jesus can the doors be closed permanently.
This is the most help available for non-Christians because the only way to stop sleep paralysis for good is through a specific type of authority not available to any except the followers of Jesus Christ. If you haven’t made Jesus the Lord of your life do it today.
You can pray this simple prayer:
Jesus, I am a sinner in need of a savior. I believe You died on the cross so I could be forgiven, washed in Your blood, and cleansed of all unrighteousness so that I could be adopted into the family of God as a son/daughter. Jesus, I believe you were crucified, died, were buried, and on the third day rose from the dead and are seated at the right hand of God praying for me. I confess all my sins to you, Jesus. Come into my life and be Lord of my life. I will serve you all the days of my life. You said if I asked I would receive the gift of Your Holy Spirit. Please fill me with Your Spirit Lord and anoint me to live for You, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
For Christians experiencing Sleep Paralysis:
The most important part of overcoming regular sleep paralysis is knowing the authority that’s been given to you by Jesus over every demonic force that could come against you.
Luke 10:17-20 ESV
17 The seventy-two returned with joy, saying, "Lord, even the demons are subject to us in your name!" 18 And he said to them, "I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven. 19 Behold, I have given you authority to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall hurt you. 20 Nevertheless, do not rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven."
“The spirits are subject to you”, this authority is available to every Christian. From the new to the seasoned, it is not just for pastors, deliverance ministers, etc. It is available to all Christians who are real Christians.
Why can a Christian trust this authority to work for them personally?
Mark 5:7 NKJV
7 And he cried out with a loud voice and said, "What have I to do with You, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? I implore You by God that You do not torment me."
Demons are afraid of Jesus and the authority He has over them. The reason they are so tormented with the fear of Jesus is because they know Jesus is the final authority over all things.
Matthew 28:18, 19, 20 NLT
18 Jesus came and told his disciples, I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth… Therefore, go… And be sure of this: I am with you always…
Jesus is the final authority on everything and whatever He says goes.
Remember Jesus has given Christians the same authority making the demons subject to the Christians. Luke 10:19-20. They must do what we tell them to do, in Jesus’ name. The question that should be running through your head right now is, what should we tell them to do?
There are many things the demons were told to do in different situations in the Bible but one that has been found to be most effective is commanding them to go into the abyss.
Matthew 8:29 ESV
29 And behold, they cried out, "What have you to do with us, O Son of God? Have you come here to torment us before the time?"
Demons know there will be a judgment day. They know their future is damnation and they’re terrified. Matthew makes reference to this day.
Matthew 25:41 NKJV
41 "Then He will also say to those on the left hand, 'Depart from Me, you cursed, into the everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels:
There is a place the demons can be sent called the abyss. Demons can be sent there before the final judgment. The abyss is a kind of prison for angels and demons.
2 Peter 2:4 NKJV
4 For if God did not spare the angels who sinned, but cast them down to hell and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved for judgment;
Jude 1:6 NKJV
6 And the angels who did not keep their proper domain, but left their own abode, He has reserved in everlasting chains under darkness for the judgment of the great day;
In Young’s Literal Translation instead of ‘cast them down to hell,’ it reads ‘cast them down to Tartarus’.
2 Peter 2:4 YLT
For if God messengers who sinned did not spare, but with chains of thick gloom, having cast them down to Tartarus, did deliver them to judgment, having been reserved,
Tartarus G5020:
· the name of the subterranean region, doleful and dark, regarded by the ancient Greeks as the abode of the wicked dead, where they suffer punishment for their evil deeds; it answers to Gehenna of the Jews;
· to thrust down to Tartarus, to hold captive in Tartarus; the deepest abyss of Hades
Matthew 8:29 ESV
29 And behold, they cried out, "What have you to do with us, O Son of God? Have you come here to torment us before the time?"
Luke 8:31 NKJV
31 And they begged Him that He would not command them to go out into the abyss.
They were terrified of Jesus because they knew He had all authority on earth and in heaven. They knew whatever Jesus said was what they had to do. Their greatest fear was being cast into the abyss to be held there in chains of darkness until the time.
These same demons are just as terrified of a Christian who knows who they are in Christ and the authority that has been given to them to use in the name of Jesus. The demons fear Christians just as much as they feared Jesus because they know that Christians have the same authority as Jesus and can cast the demons into the abyss, and they have to obey.
Satan knows that if you send his soldiers (demons) into the abyss every time he sends them to you through sleep paralysis he will eventually lose too many soldiers. He will eventually stop sending them to you since you’ve learned how to send them to the abyss.
A simple prayer you can pray: “In Jesus' name, I bind you unclean and defiling demons and I command you to go to the Abyss now and never return.” This is not the only way to rebuke them and send them away. There are many ways to deal with demons, but sending them to the abyss is one of the most effective and simplest ways.
Some people pray and send the demons to the feet of Jesus, and others rebuke them and command them to go back to the dry places where they came from. These are all effective ways to pray.
The main thing to remember is that you are operating in the authority and power Jesus has given to you in His name to overcome and destroy every work of the devil. Luke 10:19-20; 1 John 3:8
Philippians 2:9-11 NASB20
9 For this reason also God highly exalted Him, and bestowed on Him the name which is above every name, 10 so that at the name of Jesus EVERY KNEE WILL BOW, of those who are in heaven and on earth and under the earth, 11 and that every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
This is the name that has been given to you to use and it comes with authority and power in the heavenlies, on the earth, and under the earth.
You can play worship music and that’s okay. Saying the name Jesus and praying the Lord’s Prayer is okay, but is not as effective as commanding the demons with boldness to go to the abyss because Jesus said the spirits are subject to you. You have to tell them what to do, and where to go, and they must obey. Commanding them in the name of Jesus is when you will begin to see results.
You must be unwavering and committed to doing this every time the demons attack. You must be committed to speaking with boldness to the demons where they are to go or what to do. If you will be constant in this they will eventually stop coming. If you stop after the first or second time the demons will know you are not committed and still don’t know who you are in Christ.
Once the demons know you are the kind of person who will boldly use the authority given to you in the name of Christ every time they will eventually stop altogether. Understand this is KEY to stopping sleep paralysis altogether.
There are times during sleep paralysis when you may not be able to speak or wake up. Just thinking the name Jesus will break the sleep paralysis. Once you are awake you must send the demons to the abyss to be chained until the final judgment.
Even if you are awake and the attack is over and you feel everything is back to normal you still want to command them to go to the abyss. Cause them torment and send them back since they wanted to attack you. Your name is already written in heaven but now it will also be known in hell. You will have a reputation in hell. The demons will cringe when they are sent on assignment to your house.
The first time you try to use the name of Jesus to cast the demons out they may try to act like it doesn’t work or that it doesn’t bother them. It’s all smoke and mirrors! It’s an act so don’t fall for it! The first time a Christian tries to cast demons out they usually are not very confident and the demons will pick up on it and use it to try to convince the Christian that it’s not working. Don’t fall for it!
They never wanted you to find out you had authority over them. They will try to make you think that it didn’t work to get you to go back into your shell to hide. This happened to a bouncer who was having sleep paralysis where demons would literally throw him across the room while he was asleep. He tried using the name of Jesus for the first time as a new Christian and the demons tried to convince him they were mad and were going to hurt him, but they didn’t and they left on the third time he told them to go.
Close the open doors.
Closing the doors will be different for every individual. It can be easy for one individual but very difficult for different individuals. Depending on what was done to open the door will be the determining factor in how easy or difficult it will be to close the door. It’s a process.
For people who have been severe occultists and operated on high-level witchcraft, it will take more healing for their wounds in order to restore their protective barrier, or in other words, it will take a little more time and effort to close the doors they’ve opened by practicing the occult and satanic works. These people are also some of the bests and strongest Christians once they are totally healed and free because they need more help from Jesus and they tend to pray more and learned to trust Him and trust the process.
In Luke 7 Jesus says that it is often the people who have been forgiven the most who love Him the most.
Luke 7:39-50 NKJV
39 Now when the Pharisee who had invited Him saw [this], he spoke to himself, saying, "This Man, if He were a prophet, would know who and what manner of woman [this is] who is touching Him, for she is a sinner." 40 And Jesus answered and said to him, "Simon, I have something to say to you." So he said, "Teacher, say it." 41 "There was a certain creditor who had two debtors. One owed five hundred denarii, and the other fifty. 42 "And when they had nothing with which to repay, he freely forgave them both. Tell Me, therefore, which of them will love him more?" 43 Simon answered and said, "I suppose the [one] whom he forgave more." And He said to him, "You have rightly judged." 44 Then He turned to the woman and said to Simon, "Do you see this woman? I entered your house; you gave Me no water for My feet, but she has washed My feet with her tears and wiped [them] with the hair of her head. 45 "You gave Me no kiss, but this woman has not ceased to kiss My feet since the time I came in. 46 "You did not anoint My head with oil, but this woman has anointed My feet with fragrant oil. 47 "Therefore I say to you, her sins, which [are] many, are forgiven, for she loved much. But to whom little is forgiven, [the same] loves little." 48 Then He said to her, "Your sins are forgiven." 49 And those who sat at the table with Him began to say to themselves, "Who is this who even forgives sins?" 50 Then He said to the woman, "Your faith has saved you. Go in peace."
The process:
1. Stop doing the things that opened the doors. If you are addicted and cannot stop on your own it will require the Lord’s help. James 4:7, Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. It will require participation on your part. Don’t even think about resisting the devil until you’ve submitted to God, first.
2. You want to renounce the sins you committed that opened the doors to the enemy. You may need to renounce the sins of your forefathers (generational sins). Don’t get too bogged down with concern about not knowing all that needs to be renounced generationally. 1 John 1:9, If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
3. You must develop a consistent prayer life. Intercession must become a lifestyle. It is during your time asking the Lord specifically to help you close the doors that deliverance will come. Some are delivered instantly, but then others are delivered slowly over the process of time. This is not a bad thing because it is during this time a strong relationship is developed with the Lord through prayer. Pray about this issue every single day and ask Him to close the doors and heal you. It is okay to pray about other things that are on your mind or about what you might be struggling with, but make sure to pray daily about closing open doors and healing you. When healing comes it will come through His hands and through consistent prayer. Luke 18:1-8 NKJV, 1 Then He spoke a parable to them, that men always ought to pray and not lose heart, 2 saying: "There was in a certain city a judge who did not fear God nor regard man. 3 "Now there was a widow in that city; and she came to him, saying, 'Get justice for me from my adversary.' 4 "And he would not for a while; but afterward he said within himself, 'Though I do not fear God nor regard man, 5 'yet because this widow troubles me I will avenge her, lest by her continual coming she weary me.' " 6 Then the Lord said, "Hear what the unjust judge said. 7 "And shall God not avenge His own elect who cry out day and night to Him, though He bears long with them? 8 "I tell you that He will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, will He really find faith on the earth?"
4. Pray always and do not be utterly spiritless. Always pray to God and ask Him for what you need. God loves answering our prayers by giving us the things we ask for because it builds up our trust in Him and also our love for Him.
5. Praying against sleep paralysis before it happens helps. I always say you can be preemptive through prayer to cancel the assignments of the enemy before they manifest. This works to stop sleep paralysis if you pray before you go to bed. You can be spiritually proactive instead of reactive. Pray for protection and the ability to speak if you do experience sleep paralysis so you can begin rebuking demons and cast them down in chains of darkness into the abyss.
I heard a great example of opening doors being like selling shares to a company. Imagine that your life consists of a certain amount of shares. If you sell too many of them someone else will have majority control over the company. Satan tricks people into selling him shares of your life a little at a time. Say you played with tarot cards once at a party. That’s like selling him two or three shares. Doesn’t seem like much but over the course of your life, Satan tricks you into selling him more shares giving him more and more authority in your life. If you were a severe occultist or a severe sexual sinner. You have sold so many shares to Satan and the problem is that he will never give them because he is not willing to sell them. You need them back so what are you going to do? You can’t take them back from him and keep them but you can sell the whole company, even the shares that Satan has accumulated to another owner. You can give your entire life to Jesus. Give Jesus total control. You can take those shares from Satan and give them all to a good and loving Master, a Person who loves you more than anyone could possibly love you cares for you, knows everything about you, and wants what’s best for you. This is done with the heart. You are saying I want Jesus to be the Boss. Jesus is going to be the Lord of my life now. Study the Word to find out what He likes and doesn’t like and I’m just going to follow Him. The speed at which you heal or shut the doors in your life is often related to the degree to that you make Jesus the Lord of your life.
Don’t forget you cannot resist the devil unless you first submit to God. If you haven’t submitted to God don’t even think about resisting the devil. If you haven’t submitted to God there’s no way you can resist the devil and you certainly will not make him flee from you because you will be the one doing the fleeing. Remember the seven sons of Sceva? They didn’t submit to God, they did not have the authority to resist the devil, so he beat them and sent them fleeing naked and bleeding badly.
So you can see that this can be a life or death situation if left checked. The devil ONLY comes to steal, kill, and destroy. John 10:10. Jesus came to give us abundant life…but we have to choose abundant life.
James 4:7-8 NKJV
7 Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. 8 Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded.
Resisting the devil is an active ongoing thing. Resisting has to become a lifestyle just like I said prayer must become a lifestyle. Keep resisting the devil and he will eventually flee for good. Command him to leave. Actively war against him. There’s nothing passive about resisting. Think of someone attacking you at night and you’re fighting them with everything you have because you know if they capture you that’s it. It’s over. That’s how serious this is. You were born into a cosmic war that has been going on for eons. We were born into a spiritual war and we will die in this spiritual war. The best place to die in this spiritual battle is on the battlefield. Our victory has already been secured in Christ. God wants to heal you and restore you. He wants to break this assignment of Sleep Paralysis for good. I am believing with you and for you to get your victory on this battlefield. Amen?
Prayer
Father, we break every demonic spirit that has been attacking them, every sleep paralysis, every night terror, every nightmare, every night demon, and every night goblin, we come against it in Jesus’ name! You have no power, you have no authority! The blood of Jesus is against you and in Jesus’ name, we say you must go now and never come back. In Jesus’ name, we cast you into chains of darkness into the abyss and we forbid you to ever come out. We say your rest will be sweet. You will rest at night. We break the power of all demons, incubus, and succubus, we say the blood of Jesus is against you. We pray the blood of Jesus over you and pray that God would guard and guide you during sleep. Father, release your angels to war over these prayers to bring them to pass for your glory, honor, and praise, in Jesus’ name. Amen!
